Perfection – a drabble

I’m sitting on the dock, casting my line, the fragrance of Carter washing over me on the gentle breeze.

 

I’m thinking… One week of leave.  Carter.  The cabin.  Fishing.  Can life *get* any better?

 

Then, out of nowhere, a splash.

 

**What in the name of all things Simpson…?!**

 

She turns to me in surprise.  “Didn’t that tape say there were no fish in your pond?”

 

What can I say?  *I’d* certainly never seen one before. 

 

I shrug and say, “Close enough.”

 

Time to revise my opinion.

 

One week of leave.  Carter.  The cabin.  Fishing…with actual fish.  Well, that’s just…
