Jet Set News

...Three Years Later

May 2004 - I won't attempt to update all the soap opera threads begun below. Here goes: John T is in Richmond and happily married. Dustin is now a motorcyclist/hot-rodder. John P is in Seattle being Mr. Tech dude. Tom and Ked T are in Lancaster PA with two, count'em two fine kids. He still has a garage full of his and others scooters. Brad also has two nice kids, and though he sold out of scooters a few years back, and bought a swell '64 Mini Cooper, he is now returning to the fold with a Lammy 150 Special project. John I is the only Catonsville scooterist left, and is working on a new GS160 Mk 1 roundtail hot rod. Look for some details soon. Cheers.

It was the Best o' Times, It was The Worst o' Times

May 2001 - First the good news - a nice article in the Baltimore sun featuring the Jet Set among other local scooter gangs. Now the Bad news: Dustin got T-boned by a drunk loser in a Jeep Cherokee. He's fine, and after the insurance settlement, his Lambretta will be too. Tom T is leaving town - up and moving to Montana, er, Lancaster PA. So look out Amish scooter gangs, here we come. Be there on June 9 for a farewell swap meet. Brad and John have had lousy luck with certain minor engine components manufactured in the subcontinent. Little things like oh, flywheels, engine cases, things like that. Stick with Italian stuff y'all.

April 2001 - Boy how time flies when you're a lazy git. Where to start...There are still a few scooters for sale here. Brad has created a serious monster Lambretta - if you value all that is holy and good RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!. Tom is simultaneously building with his bare hands both a GS210 and a DL225. John is restoring a GS150 for Joel his brother in law. We'll try to get some pictures up for y'all soon. Regular club meetings are really a -happnin. Give us an email for details.

August 2000 - Long gap in news folks - here's the skinny: Tom and Ked now have two cuter 'than-a-VS5's-behind rug rats - Tess was born August 16. John and Lizzie bought a house which John promply filled with imported Italian scooters (see ScooterLab for some swell deals). But the biggest news is that we've apparently all moved to Bangladesh because it hasn't stopped raining for months and months, so since we can't ride without drowning we've decided to start an actual monthly meeting which will commence the second Wednesday of each month. Email us and if we like you we'll tell you where it is.

November 1999 - Please: friends don't let friends sell scooters. At least they don't let friends sell their ONLY RUNNING SCOOTER. Tom T and John T are in the unenviable position of having large tonnage of scooterparts but nothing to ride. If you see them, slap them around a little, might do 'em good.

October 1999 - Riding season is sadly coming to a close. Time to think about winter projects and engine overhauls. If you are looking for a project ask Tom T. if he'll sell you one of the 1,000,000 scooters in pieces in his garage. Or check out the ScooterLab page for fun things you can do to make your scooter ever more perfect. Stewart now has some t-shirts for sale on the swap meet page.

September 1999 - Despite the coming of the Monsoon season, we are planning once again to invade Ocean City. Save the weekend of October 9. We are leaving Friday morning and returning Sunday afternoon. Cheapo offseason rates rule. Email Tom T for details.

Sad news from a former Jet Set member - Scott Evans was severely knocked of his Lambretta TV200 by a hit and run driver in LA. He wasn't totalled, but the bike was. He is in physical therapy and could use some support. Email him at tv200@excite.com.

August 1999 -There's finally some content on the ScooterLab pages. John I wrote up a little about setting up his disc brake.

July 1999 - Tom and Kedren T have finally finished their new project on July 15th, and it's a boy: Tommy III. Email them and they will fill your inbox with cuter'n hell photos. His first words sounded like "two stroke" but we're not sure.

June 1999 - Our local fountain of all things scooter, Motostrada, has moved to a fabulous new location, and they are carrying the full range of Italjet scooters. New Vespas may be coming in 2000. Their web page looks the same though.

May 1999- John I went to the Cape Cod Rally/Swap meet with the Vermillions. Had a blast, and picked up a new project Lambretta TV175. There are photos from the rally here.

John's GS160 is sold. Tom has a P200 for sale, John T has a 1957 Vespa 150 and a Lammy 125 in the works, and Both Tom and John T have new GS160 projects. Check out the swap meet page for some stuff for sale and needed.

We try to make the Baltimore Bombers monthly Meeting, on the first Wednesday of each month. Actual Jet Set club meetings are held in a secret location where all sorts of fun and exciting things go on. Honest.
