Oahu

Our first stop in Hawaii was Oahu. We stayed there only long enough to celebrate out 25th wedding anniversary. And work on getting over our jet lag, I guess. Anyway, we packd a lot of stuff into our day-and-a-half on the island.

Our first stop for the day was the Bishop Museum. One of the best places on Oahu, IMO.

In the main building, there were many interesting items, including this depiction of a Hawaiian chant of the creation.

Here's a sample of the many beautiful Hawaiian quilts in the museum.

A view of Pearl Harbor from the Arizona Memorial. The big rusty thing is the top of Arizona's #3 gun turret.

The next day, we visited the Waikiki Aquarium. And we got this mug shot of James...

Here's a photo I thought I'd nver see... I got a good shot of the aquarium's nautilus. They keep it in deep darkness, but my flash showed it up OK.

In the park outside the aquarium, we found a nice spot for a quick photo.

Our last stop for the day was the Nuuanu Valley and the cliffs where Kamehameha won the last battle in the war to unite the islands in 1788.
