Miscellaneous New York Photos

There were tons of other things that we did while in New York. We only had about 3 full days to see a lot of territory. So there were some things left behind. I expect we'll go back some time and hit some new material.

As always, just click on an image to see a larger version.

I started taking photos the minute we arrived in the City. This is Deb, just outside of Penn Station, at the entrance to Madison Square Garden.

That afternoon, we decided to wander around a little. Here is Deb on 42nd St, with te Chrysler Building in the background.

The next morning, we were up early. Sort of a mistake. nothing much happens in New York before 9:00. So we took a walk, and found a nice park.

Near the park, we saw a landmark. The Flatiron Building is one of Manhattan's first "skyscapers."

We were staying in the New Yorker hotel, just a few blocks from the Empire State Building.

Here's a view we had first thing in the morning. Look closely at the street sign that points one in the right direction to find the Empire State Building. These people are silly!

Looking west, you can see the Hudson River, Penn Station and our hotel.

We had to take a pic of me up there. I decided I wanted the U.N. Headquarters as a backdrop.

After a short while, we found ourselves sort of living on the Subway. It took some getting used to, but we managed. I

So, we sort of got lost, and ended up wandering around to the Library.

Inside the reading room, we took a little time to get logged in to the internet and e-mail some folks.

Deb and I both loved this reading room. The ceiling was gorgeous.

Later, we visited with some friends for lunch. Across the street, we saw St. John the Devine. It seems this is the largest cathedral in the world.

There are several different archetectural styles used in this church. Apparebtly, it's not quite finished yet.

Inside, the place is flippin' HUGE, as you'd expect.

I don't expect they'll actuall finish this place in my lifetime. It seems they want to add a structure proposed by Buckminster Fuller.

Here's a store front that Deb and I found close to the American museum of natural History. I thought it was cool, what with all the bones, fossils and what-not.

Life just ain't complete until you go to Times Square on a Sunday and catch the big productions put on by the street preachers. Nothing but odd!
