Conclusions

The methodology used in this study focuses on comparing percentages of disabled populations near DART Light Rail stations from 1990 (before rail system operations) to 2000 (rail system fully operational). Block groups from 1990 and 2000 were selected within a ½ mile (coverage area) of each station using the Network Analyst Tool.  Total disabled population changes from (1990 to 200) were summarized for block-groups within ½ mile of each station or (station area).  Finally, Total change for individuals with disabilities in Dallas County was summarized and used as a control measure to analyze and conclude any significant population shift.
