2003 Wisdom Awards

Inner Peace

The Internet seems to grow by leaps and bounds every day. As creative tools advance, more and more people add their two cents to the public domain. To recognize those folks who do this as a labor of love, I chose a search engine and some key "words of wisdom" and reviewed fifty or so sites, selecting the top six that I felt dignify the medium.

The 2003 words of wisdom were...

I tabulated the results from an AllTheWeb search in late May. In an effort to remain courteous to the site owners, the links below generally point to their entry page... you might have to search their site to find the specific document that I'm referencing.

May I have the envelope please?

  Symptoms Of Inner Peace

Although this is a semi-commercial site, the Inspirational page has some interesting short parables and sayings:

To let go does not mean to stop caring, It means ĒI canĎt do it for someone elseĒ

To let go is not to cut myself off, Itís the realization that I canít control someone else.

To let go is not to enable, But allow learning from natural consequences.

  Weekly Devotional Articles

Reverend Mike Jones at the Minister Ministry compiles a splendid list of short Devotional Articles with a decidedly Christian slant:

The most important choice of all, however, is your choice about serving God- Jos 24:15 ..., choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Life is full of choices. All of them impact you either now or for eternity. Make Godís work and Godís will the key ingredient in your choices every day.

Generally concise and five to six paragraphs, each Devotional is a small sermon.

  Requests For Prayers

Angel Access' Post-A-Prayer has requests both to God and for those that pray on behalf of others...

Please pray for all those who are seeking true happiness in a loving marriage, for all singles, that we will know God has not forgotten us, but has saved the best for last. For many happy marriages (including one for me) now. In the name of Jesus, we ask this according to God's best plan for all involved. AMEN

This site is amazing for no other reason than that it allows people to bare their souls:

  A Place to Honor Grief

This site is not at all what you would expect -- stunning and uplifting personal stories that honor people who have died, and a shared realization of how we assist each other in overcoming our losses:

Tony will always be a part of me, and I will never forget all of the things he taught me about enjoying life. He can't tell me now that he loves me or kiss me goodnight, but I hope he will again someday. I still tell him I love him. I think I always will. There was just something about him that I couldn't help but to love.

  Quotes for Transformation

Folks have listed their favorite quotations on tons of sites; here you will find that Peter Shepherd had done a terrific job culling those that lead to personal development.

"The man who strikes first admits that his ideas have run out." --Chinese proverb

"Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen." --Albert Einstein

"History teaches us that men and nations behave wisely only after they have exhausted all other alternatives." --Abba Eban
