Bosque del Apache NWR: January, 2003

The Bosque is one of this country's premier wildlife refuge areas. The winter season features tens of thousands of migratory birds who come to southern New Mexico for the winter. Chief among them are snow geese and sandhill crane. The morning flyout, with thousands of snow geese rising from the pond all at once is a sight to behold, followed by the cranes, who take off in small groups.
