"Hidden Heritage
is about the fact that there are millions and millions of people in America who are of
some Native descent. And unfortunately, a huge percentage of those millions aren't even
aware of it. There was a time in this country when it wasn't a good idea -- from the
people in that generation's point of view -- to press upon their children the fact that
Grandma was Indian. I know a lot of these people, and they have yearnings for things that
they don't understand. They have a love for nature, a love for the natural order of things
that probably is a little more intense than the average person. And a lot of times, they
don't understand why that's true either."
