The 1835 Estate Sale of Gilson Oliver

return to the Wm. A. Lyles page | return to the Documents page

During the October 2000 trip to Oconee/Pickens Counties, a brief examination of the estate papers of the Pickens district revealed estate records for Gilson (maybe Jilson) Oliver; Edward Hughes and Thomas Harbin fiduciiary. Since the Oliver family figured in some of the dealings surrounding the sale of David Liles' land, we examined the estate papers carefully. The following list of names includes "William Liles," almost certainly William Albert Lyles. He would have been 22 years old in 1835. In future trips we will examine more estate papers for other family names.

[Editing notes: I have kept the original spelling with question marks to indicate places where the spelling was uncertain. I have also kept the use of the abrievation "do" to mean "ditto".]
