Sarah E. Lyles, the daughter of
William Albert and Mary Fowler Lyles, lies near her
nephew Clifton Lyles and her niece Amy Lyles at Double
Springs Methodist Church, Mountain Rest, S.C.
Joseph Lyles (1792-1870) is buried at
Hopewell Methodist Church. The inscription on his stone
reads
CORPL.
JOS.

8 U.S.
INF.
WAR OF
1812
This stone is the result of a
letter written in 1922 by Mrs. L.A. Dickson of Seneca,
S.C., to the government, saying that the grave of the
veteran of the war of 1812 was unmarked and needed a
suitable stone.
