Deed of Zillah Liles, 1880

Why did Zillah sell the 194 acres inherited from Joseph Liles (Sr.) for the absurdly low price of $25? It is instructive to look back at the terms of Joseph's will and codicil, which say that the proceeds of any such sale should be divided among his legal heirs.
