Valparaiso, Chile 4/09 I am a writer living in Southern California. I hold an M.A. in French Literature and taught French, English and Spanish overseas and near Los Angeles for many years. I’ve received two awards for French teaching: the Friedel and Otto Eberspacher Award from The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (2006) and the Distinguished French Educator Award from the American Association of Teachers of French, Southern California (2008). My poetry has appeared in English and Spanish in a variety of literary journals such as Broken Bridge Review, Eucalypt, Ginosco (issue #7), Her Mark Calendar 2010, Moondance, The New Verse News, The Pedestal Magazine, Picayune, Qarrtsiluni, and Raving Dove. Poems are forthcoming in Alehouse Press (Runner Up in the Happy Hour Poetry Awards), Aries, HazMat Review, Off the Coast, and Red Rock Review. One of my poems was included in the anthology, An Eye for an Eye Makes the Whole World Blind: Poets on 9/11, and an essay on caregiving appeared in Voices of Alzheimer’s: Stories for Courage, Comfort and Strength.
