And we wonder why faith in the judicial system is failing ...

The Story

Judge Edward Cashman is coming under fire for sentencing a child rapist to 60 days. The rapist, Mark Hulett, admitted to raping a little girl countless times from age 7 to age 10.

Let me repeat that so you don't miss it --- he sentenced him to SIXTY FREAKING DAYS. Sixty. That's all. Two months. For raping a child.

Certainly there are excellent judges on the bench, but with judges like Cashman handing down such ridiculous sentences (and stating for the record that he no longer believes in punishment), is it any wonder that the public looks askance at judges and the judicial system?

I am astounded, saddened, and mortified. And my heart goes out to the family of that little girl.

Comments:
This is a name that everyone needs to remember when it comes back to re-election time...but then again, maybe in the area where this happened, judges don't have to be reconfirmed every so many years? Anyway, this is a sad indication of the state of our world.

I don't know if judges are elected or appointed in Vermont. But the whole situatino is sad, sad, sad.

OMG! That is disgusting!!! He definitely needs to be taken off the bench. As for the rapist, I've heard child molesters have a tendency to be beaten and/or killed by their fellow prisoners, so one can but hope....

It makes me physically sick to think this beast will be back on the streets in sixty days, trolling for another victim. The judge is beyond stupid and should be yanked off the bench before he lets stalkers and/or killers off with a slap on the wrist.

Exactly what both of you said. It's just beyond comprehension!!

Well done!
