Walk for Breast Cancer, wanna help?
2005 Atlanta Breast Cancer 3-Day - General Donation This isn't the usual thing for my blog/news/whatever. But here's a good cause that I just learned about from my friend Julie Moore (I know way too many Julies, I really do ...). At any rate, as Julie M describes it, she's gonna be walking 60 miles. I am MOST impressed, as I was doing good to make it around one block with C the other day ...
At any rate, Julie writes "It's called the Breast Cancer 3-Day. I am going to be walking (or crawling) 60 miles over the course of three days, for a cause devoted to helping women discover breast cancer early enough to beat it and committed to finally finding a cure. There are several such events around the country - I'm participating in the Atlanta 3-day from Sept. 30-Oct. 1. As a condition of participation, I must raise at least $2,100. Proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund."
"One in eight women will be affected by breast cancer. One in eight. Think how many women friends you have. What are the odds that you will never be directly affected by breast cancer? Too high. This is a very small attempt at making a difference. I hope you will join me."
