Nothing to report
Treasurer’s Report (Snell Fontus)
No new expenses incurred (*What about the $17 - mentioned below – for the “D.B.A.” account?)
No bookkeeping entries to make (translation – no receipt of any charitable donations, even though he checks the JBC Alumni Association post office box once per week!)
Centennial Bank (Eugene, Oregon) is willing to open a “Doing Business As” (D.B.A) checking account for the JBC Alumni Association for a fee of $17. *Snell paid the $17 fee (for which he must be reimbursed). This week, Jay will deliver to Snell the $200 (approximately) remaining profit from the 2000 Reunion for Snell to deposit and open the checking account with. Discussion to establish dollar amount spending maximum that checks can be written for with only one signature. Motion and Second for approval of $500 maximum. Checks written for an amount greater than $500 will require a second signature.
There is definitely a second signature required for opening the checking account. A second signature is also preferred on the post office signature card. Motion and Second for approval of Snell Fontus (Treasurer) and Jay Peoples (President) to be authorized signers on checking account and post office box. Jay is to be in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday, January 20, 2001. Snell and Jay will go to the bank together and sign the necessary forms for opening the checking account. Snell and Jay will go to the Post Office together to complete the appropriate signature card. In the event that Jay’s trip to Eugene is canceled, completion of all above-mentioned forms will transpire via U.S. Mail, between Snell and Jay, within the next two weeks.
Reminder of expenses that are presently owing (or will be in the future):
Bylaws after completion and review by Board members).
For the sake of greater progress toward completion of a preliminary draft, Tim will take over drafting of Bylaws, with assistance from Steve. Remaining Board members will offer editing suggestions when the rough draft is complete.
Snell’s employee has begun data entry of alumni information received from Southwestern College and from the 1982 JBC Alumni Directory. Sheri will provide Snell with list of enrolled students for 1982-83 academic year from JBC Mailroom Roster.
No status report available as to data entry of registrants for 2000 reunion.
Sheri has solicited participation from eight JBC alumni. They are: Gary Buhler, Brian Buhler, Jeff Cameron, Colin Elligsen, Celia (Johnson) West, Dave Kerr, (Eric) Werner Reschke and Dave Squyres. So far, Brian Buhler has responded, stating that he is virtually unavailable due to heavy involvement in missionary work in India. Dave Squyres has responded offering obvious skills and expertise, a willingness to participate, yet limited availability. Celia (Johnson) West has responded with a willingness to participate, although she has no experience with web site development. Dave Kerr has responded stating unavailability due to timing with transferring employment and residency from Canada back to the Portland area during the course of the next several months. The others have not yet responded. Sheri will follow-up with them and provide their response information to Steve. The decision was made to combine the Website Committee with earlier plans to form a Promotion / Communication Committee. Steve will oversee the continued formation of the Website Committee, with assistance from Sheri.
Plans to merge the two web sites have come up against a “roadblock”, of sorts, in waiting for the data entry from the 2000 reunion. Since no status report on that data entry was available at today’s meeting, the decision was made that Steve will move forward with combining the two web sites without the reunion data for now. Mention was made of the importance of posting the address for the JBC Alumni Association on the new-and-improved web site for increasing awareness as to where people can mail their charitable donations. Mention was also made as to possibly posting a reunion date notice for the final weekend of July 2001, location yet to be determined.
Sheri will attempt to make contact with Joanna Johnson at City Bible Church (Joanna was the CBC staff member who assisted Jay in arranging for the 2000 reunion) in hopes of holding a similar reunion in July 2001. Sheri will begin to solicit involvement of JBC alumni toward formation of a Reunion Committee.
Either Saturday, March 3rd -or- Saturday, March 10th, 2001 in Beaverton, Oregon at the home of Sheri Mowery 10:00 AM.
In prayer by Jay.
