Eating on the cheap at Perry Boys, the Ala Moana Poi Bowl, the Coral Seas Hotel, Top's Beach Walk, and Chuck's Cellar . . . . . . . .Listening to KCCN-AM all the time with Jackie the Honolulu Skylark, Bra' Kelly, Crash Kealoha, and Scotty Boy . . . . . . . Strumming a few tunes at the Sunday night jam in front of the Reef Hotel on the beach, where all those years ago I met a big young guy who sang a little and asked me to just call him "Iz" . . . . . . . . .Getting a 10 pack of big Hawaiian pineapples for less than ten bucks . . . . . . .Seeing the Kodak Hula Show at Kapiolani Park on weekday mornings . . . . . . the great slogan of Waltah Clarke's clothing shop - "walk in.....hula out" . . . . . . . .driving up the Manoa Road to Paradise Park and the Waioli Tea Room . . . . . . . . . .Going to Maui on the Sea Flite Jetfoil . . . . . . . Riding all over Oahu on TheBus #52 for just 25 cents . . . . . . .trying out the Waimea Paniolo Stew at the Parker Ranch on the Big Island . . . . . . . .great times on Oahu's North Shore with a glider ride at Dillingham, the scene at Haleiwa Harbor, and the walls of water at Waimea Bay . . . . . . enjoying the mysterious and tranquil scenery at the Byodo-In Temple . . . . . . .checking out a condo in a brand new building on Ala Moana in the heart of Waikiki for a little more than 30 thousand dollars ! . . . . . Realizing that the best place for Hawaiian styled clothes is at Sears and Penney's in the Ala Moana shopping mall . . . . . . . and being part of the 50th anniversary of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Waikiki's historic "Pink Palace".

As far as the music goes there were songs all around, not just in the area of Waikiki Beach . . . . .Hilo Hattie came out of retirement to perform at the Coral Lanai in the magnificent Halekulani Hotel on the beach, while in the main room were vocalists Ed Kenney and Beverly Noa . . . . . . . Rodney Arias and his Paradise Serenaders were the attraction at the Hana Hou Room of the Hyatt Regency, while in the Colony Lounge at that hotel ukulele wizard Herb Ohta (Ohta-San) performed . . . . . . . . .Al Lopaka in Benihana's in the Hilton Hawaiian Village while at the Golden Dragon is (don't get confused now) Lopaka Young. . . . . Alumni of Hawaii Calls, Boyce and Nina could be seen and heard at Duke K's in the International Market Place . . . . . . .Loyal Garner held forth at the Canoe House of Waikiki's Ilikai Hotel . . . . . . . . .Down at Pier Six, Dennis Pavao and the Kaapana Brothers during the week with Gabby Pahinui on Sunday afternoons . . . . . . . .The Aliis were the stars of the show at The Outrigger . . . . . . . The Ocean Terrace of the Cinerama Reef features Melveen Leed . . . . .The Prow Lounge of the Sheraton features the Brothers Cazimero . . . . . Aunty Genoa Keawe presented her music at the Plantation Bar of the Ala Moana Americana . . . . . .Bunny Brown and Trio at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel . . . . . . .and my personal favorites were around -both at the Fountain Lanai in the Ilikai : Pauline Kekahuna and her Trio except for Tuesday when Bill Alii'loa Lincoln took the stage . . . . . . .and the all time favorites played on - Don Ho at the Reef Towers Polynesian Palace and Danny Kaleikini at the Kahala Hilton.
