The Cardinals- (Overlooked and Underappreciated)

Memories of Moondog, Dr. Jive, and Jocko

These original newspaper ads for R & B shows in the New York City area in 1957 show the level of mainstraming that the music had undergone at that period in time. Note Boyd Bennett, Gloria Mann, pop crooner Don Cherry and The Bonnie Sisters on the Alan Freed bill. Even more of a surprise is the inclusion of PatBoone as headliner and pop wannabe Robbin Hood with Dr.Jive. And The Diamonds as Jocko's bill topper?
