Many Volkssport clubs sponsor weekend events which are scheduled well in advance of the date the event will be held. These events are held in addition to the Year Round Events and must be sanctioned by the IVV through the AVA in order to be eligible for IVV achievement awards. Such events will be announced by a brochure giving information about the event such as directions to the Start point, start and finish times, trail description, etc. Scheduled weekend events may also be announced on the club's website (if they have one) and will be announced on the AVA website. If the club is offering an incentive award in connection with the event, the brochure will give information about preregistration in order to receive the award on the event day. There are two main types of club awards. "A" awards are new awards which are being offered for the first time. These may consist of medals, pins, patches, tee-shirts or any other type of incentive that the club believes people would be interested in receiving. The registration fee for an event which offers an "A" award is set by the local club and will usually run between $5 and $15 depending on the value of the award. The amount includes the IVV credit fee. "B" awards are leftover "A" awards which the club is still holding after the original event is over. These awards may be offered at subsequent events, including at the Year Round Events, and are reduced in price. The price of the "B" award also includes IVV credit. If a participant does not desire an award but wishes to walk for IVV credit only, he or she pays only the IVV credit fee which is currently $3. Most clubs will also allow participants to walk for free but will generally require that the person register and sign a waiver of liability. The Amigo Amblers Volkssport Club has not offered any scheduled weekend walks for the last several years due to low walker turnout. The monthly group walks which we hold are just the Year Round Events which are walked as a group. We are hoping to keep Volkssports alive in El Paso until interest is revived. A regular monthly schedule of weekend events is offered by the Las Cruces Sun Country Striders.
