Ding Dang (©2006
Charlie Jaffe, ASCAP)
Ding
dang, hot diggity do
I’m
feeling fine, now how about you?
Ding
dang, hot diggity dong
Won’t
you help me sing my song?
People
like to sing it because it’s lots of fun
As they’re
walking down the street, or even as they run
You
know that once you start singing it’s hard to stop
Consider
this a warning, you might want to hop
Ding
dang (ding dang), hot diggity do
I’m
feeling fine, now how about you?
Ding
dang (ding dang), hot diggity dong
Won’t
you help me sing my song?
You
can sing it on a sunny day, or even one with clouds
You
can sing it very quietly, or even very loud
There’s
no need to be shy, just let it all out
The
more you keep on singing it, the more you’re gonna shout
Ding
dang (ding dang), hot diggity do
I’m
feeling fine, now how about you?
Ding
dang (ding dang), hot diggity dong
Won’t
you help me sing my song?
You
can sing it at the beach or you can sing it in the park
You
can sing it in the morning, you sing it after dark
Once
you start singing, you feel such joy
You
can see it on the faces of all the girls and boys
Ding
dang (ding dang), hot diggity do
I’m
feeling fine, now how about you?
Ding
dang (ding dang), hot diggity dong
Won’t
you help me sing my song?
Ding
dang (ding dang), hot diggity do
I’m
feeling fine, now how about you?
Ding
dang (ding dang), hot diggity dong
Won’t
you help me sing my ding dang diggity, ding dang diggity song?
My Dog (©2006 Charlie Jaffe, ASCAP)
Oh,
I’m so lucky to have a little shadow
It runs
when I run; it goes when I go
My dog,
yes my dog is the best dog around
Oh,
my dog, yes my dog is the best dog in town
She
is so cute and oh, so smart
She’s
really strong and fast as a dart
She
likes to play twenty hours a day
I know
in my heart we’ll never be apart
Oh,
I’m so lucky to have a little shadow
It runs
when I run; it goes when I go
My dog,
yes my dog is the best dog around
Oh,
my dog, yes my dog is the best dog in town
She’s
black and tan and really cool
I’m
the envy of all the kids in school
She
likes to go for rides on slippery slides
And
then she likes to jump in my neighbor’s pool
Oh,
I’m so lucky to have a little shadow
It runs
when I run; it goes when I go
My dog,
yes my dog is the best dog around
Oh,
my dog, yes my dog is the best dog in town
We play
outside, we go for walks
We have
the world’s most interesting talks
She’s
my pride and joy, she’s my loveable toy
She’s
the coolest dog around on the whole sidewalk
Oh,
I’m so lucky to have a little shadow
It runs
when I run; it goes when I go
My dog,
yes my dog is the best dog around
Oh,
my dog, yes my dog is the best dog in town!

The Camp Song (©2006 Charlie Jaffe, ASCAP)
Playing
in the sunshine every day is just so fine
Skies
of blue and fields of green make for a happy time
There
is so much to do in camp where laughter is the rule
There’s
arts and crafts and singing songs and swimming in the pool
The
counselors and the CITs add to our summer fun
The
special friends that we make in camp, we hope we’re never done!
There’s
softball and there’s soccer and there’s rolling on the ground
My baseball
glove and the cap I love came from the lost and found
There’s
storytelling and archery and hiking in the woods
And
in the fall we’ll tell our friends how the summer was so good
The
counselors and the CITs add to our summer fun
The
special friends that we make in camp, we hope we’re never done!
Special
days and cookouts, they really make us smile
Running
races make us tired because we run for miles
The
ices that we get for snack just really can’t be beat
It is
a tasty way you see, to beat the summer heat
The
counselors and the CITs add to our summer fun
The
special friends that we make in camp, we hope we’re never done!

Everybody Wants A Friend
(©2006 Charlie Jaffe, ASCAP)
Everybody
wants a friend to share fun times with
We all need a friend in sad times too
The
best way to have a friend is to be a friend
Let
me tell you pal, I’ll start with you
When you need a laugh just call on me
If you need to climb we’ll find a tree
If you’re
looking for someone to do some playing
I want
to be the one, and I’ll be saying…
Everybody
wants a friend…
If you’re feeling well or feeling sick
I will
be your friend through thin and thick
If you’re feeling sad and want to cry
I’ll
stand by your side, and that is why…
Everybody
wants a friend…
I have a joke I’d like to share
We will
laugh and smile without a care
My friendship
is a gift-wrapped package
And
this is how I’ll share my special message…
Everybody
wants a friend…
…and
I’m so glad to have a friend like you!

Lunch Lady (©2006 Charlie Jaffe, ASCAP)
Well,
a couple’a times since the start of the year
You
know that mean, old lunch lady? Well, she wasn’t here
There’s
a replacement for her, who I just adore
When
she calls us up for seconds, man, I get on line for more
Substitute
Lunch Lady, no never is mean
Substitute
Lunch Lady, Cafeteria Queen
You
see, it’s happened once or twice since school began
When
I heard that she was here, man, my feet just ran
Now,
I’m gettin’ on line, hip, hip hooray
Because
she’s servin’ up some lunch and I like it that way
Substitute
Lunch Lady makes us eat all our greens
Substitute
Lunch Lady, Cafeteria Queen
She’s
got a gray oven mitt, and her hair’s in a net
She
makes the best mashed potatoes that I’ll never forget
She
makes a great chocolate milk, she knows the way to my heart
I like
her grilled cheese sandwich and her raspberry tarts
Substitute
Lunch Lady cooks up some chili and beans
Substitute
Lunch Lady, Cafeteria Queen
Oh man,
she’s serving lunch again in school today
You
know I can’t remember when I used to feel this way
Now
I’m glad that I don’t bring my lunch from home in a box
‘Cause
there’s a rumor goin’ ‘round she’s serving bagels and lox!
Substitute
Lunch Lady, cooks up some chili and beans
Substitute
Lunch Lady no never is mean

Schoolyard Bully Blues
(©2006 Charlie Jaffe, ASCAP)
He’s a schoolyard bully; He’s terrible mean
Eyes red like fire - teeth yellow green
He’s a schoolyard bully; he’s a rascal and thug
He’s got a bad reputation; he’s got a nasty old mug
He’s a schoolyard bully; he’s miserable tough
He wants all your money; your small change is not enough
He’s a schoolyard bully; he’s come a’lookin’ for me
Now I’m lookin’ for shelter; someone find me a tree
You see he told me on the bus early today,
“I’ll see you outside kid, when we go out to play.”
He said, “I’ll see you after lunch, so kid don’t try to hide
I’ll see you in the schoolyard, kid, I’ll find you outside.”
He’s a schoolyard bully; likes startin’ up fights
Don’t seem to know what’s wrong or what’s right
He’s a schoolyard bully; the ground shakes when he walks
But I don’t want to fight him; I wanna just talk
He’s a schoolyard bully; now he sees me by the fence
My knees are a’shakin’; I think I wet my pants
Now here comes that bully; and he’s grabbing my hands
He said, “I’m tired of fighting, kid; I just want to be friends”
You see he told me on the bus early today,
“I’ll see you outside kid, when we go out to play.”
He said, “I’ll see you after lunch, so kid don’t try to hide
I’ll see you in the schoolyard, kid, I’ll find you outside.”
Well, he was a schoolyard bully; but misunderstood
Had a bad reputation, but now he’s learned to be good
No more schoolyard bully; nowhere to be seen
We’re learning to like him; ‘cause he’s no longer mean
You see he told me on the bus early today,
“I’ll see you outside kid, when we go out to play.”
He said, “I’ll see you after lunch, so kid don’t try to hide
I’ll see you in the schoolyard, kid, I’ll find you outside.”
Make Peace (© 2006 Charlie Jaffe, ASCAP)
Adapted
from ancient liturgy
The
One who makes peace, the One who makes peace
The
One who makes peace in the heavens
Will
make peace for us and all of the world
And
we say “amein and amein”
Make
peace right here on earth
Give
all you’ve got, you’ll see the worth
With
give and take, the black and white will slowly fade away
And
peace will lead us to a brighter day
Make
peace right here on earth
Make
peace right here on earth
Milestone (© 2006 Charlie Jaffe, ASCAP)
From the moment that I saw you I knew you’d be my wife
A kindred spirit searching for a way to make a life
Reflecting now on memories of days come before
An infant’s cry, a playful smile; who could ask for more?
I’ve seen the way you care about the people that you love
Your tender way just suits you dear, it fits you like a glove
The lives you touch, both young and old, are better off by far
Your compassion just amazes me; you’re my champion, my star
So many things we learn in life can only come with age
Like the patience that is needed just to turn another page
And I owe so much to you my love, our family, my life
Ever since the day we married everything has turned out right
My deepest appreciation is yours alone
I’m so lucky to have found you, to have built our happy home
I imagine growing old with you, my lover and my friend
Together we will greet each day, around life’s every bend
And now you’ve reached this milestone, you deserve a special song
So I give this one to you babe, may it last your whole life long
Sing the simple melody and keep it in your heart
Share it with your loved ones, give everyone a part
So many things we learn in life can only come with age
Like the patience that is needed just to turn another page
And I owe so much to you my love, our family, my life
Ever since the day we married everything has turned out right
And I owe so much to you my love, our family, my life
From the moment that I saw you I knew you’d be my wife

May
God bless you, and may God keep you
May
God look kindly on you and grant you peace

with wisdom and live with compassion
Speak
words of kindness and you’ll always be in fashion

your conscience be your guiding light
Be gracious
when you lose and when you win
