This is where we are. A bit more than 3 months work and we are on the final stages. The cabinets will be delivered next Thursday. Most of the trim is cut and I hope to have it painted before the cabinets come. It won't be long now.
Last push!
- finish trim
- paint trim
- cabinets
- countertop
- install microwave, sink and dishwasher
- Christmas Dinner!

I have most of the trim up and painted. It is more work than I anticipated. Time is at a premium now and I don't have much free time this week to finish up the trim. I would also like to get the back splash at least cut before the cabinets come in. This may not happen. Nonetheless, the cabinets come on Thursday and we start putting them up on Saturday. Stay tuned!

We got busy this weekend. 8 hours on Friday night got the upper cabinets hung with the microwave installed just before midnight. Saturday saw the lower cabinets and counter top cut out with Jim's help. Sunday; kick plate on, dishwasher installed and running, some doors hung, back splash cut and installed.
10 days till Christmas dinner! Will we make it?
Before and After Shots
We did it! Last Thursday, Jim came over and we mounted the laminate on the countertop and installed the sink. We now have a working kitchen and our first large meal cooked in it was today; Christmas day. We had turkey and all the fixings including pie! Just a few small things to do yet. The biggest is that we are having custom made a butcher's block for the counter on the right side of the stove as well as the fascia for the whole counter. A few molding touches here and there and some caulking to be done too. But we are officially done and functional.
Special thanks to all the people who made this possible; Allison and Bob Terwilliger, Pat Case, Sue and Bill Rambo, Beth and Gregg Woolston, Kris and Ray Wagner, Dave Neil, Ken McCarthy and a very special thanks to Sandy and Jim Overhiser. We could not have done this without all of you guys - Thanks!
