I am looking for Embry families in Caddo parish that may
have an earlier connection in Jackson/Lincoln/Winn parish
areas. Looking for families of John M. Embry, Jesse Embry,
Warren, and Thomas New't Embry. All these men served in
Gray's 28th during Civil War out of Jackson Parish along
with Jarvis Milen Embry and his brother Reuben Samuel

I have recently been told that my 2 fr grfth. and his family, who were
Louisiana Choctaws were living on "a reservation" in NW La. "close to the
Ark. border" in about 1865-1870, going from there to Bright Star, Miller
Co., Ark. I have never heard of any sort of indian community this far north
in La. at that time, and was wondering if you had come across mention of
this in your Caddo Parish research. Any leads would certainly be

Subject: Lookup census Caddo: DeGraffenried
Hi,
I am searching for information on Joseph DeGraffenried and Rose Mae
Thomas DeGraffenried. Specifically if you have the time to look for
a census record for them. I have no ages for them only their names.
They should have been residing at Shreveport ca 1901 as my Grandmother,
Marie Jacqueline DeGraffenried was born July 4, 1901 at Shreveport. I
have never found them on any census nor is a birth certificate for
her on file. There were 4 other siblings but I don't have their birth
dates, except for a brother:

Ivy "
Lafete or Lafayette born ca 1890.
Any help or suggestions appreciated. I have never found them on any
census, just know they settled in Oklahoma and died in the 1918-1919
flu epidemic (the children survived).

11-9-1868 Eveline, resident of Caddo Parish, LA. sold to Jacob
Williamson the following land NE quarter of section 21 in township
15 North of Range 14 West containing 159 acres, situated and being
in the Parish of DeSoto.

10-18-1869 Eveline Murray, resident of Caddo Parish, La, widow of
Sylvester sold the following land North half of section 17, and
SE quarter of the Se quarter of SW quarter of section 8, all in
township 15, range 14, containing 5020 acres more or less. sold
for 1500. for which she took a note from Andrew J. Nelson.
The above land was purchased by she and Sylvestor from 1849-1859

Murray age 58 born Georgia living with Florence 18, Thomas 12,
Sallie 8 all were born in Louisiana. Florence is the Edney listed
in the 1860 Census(Thomas & Sallie have not been identified as her
natural children , they may be grandchildren or ?). Her occupation
is Farmer and her real estate is valued at $500.All of Eveline's
neighbors are black and include family names of Wilson, Garrett,
& Gillian.

thereon known as lot number eight of the Fairfield subdivision
to Clairborn J. Foster and James M Foster.

Caddo Parish around 1844 but they moved to Shelby county, Texas about
1849. Thomas Jefferson Adams and Rebecca Funnyhow. Are there any

information about their parents. Rebecca was Cherokee and Thomas had
been married previously to unknown.
