Ballistic Data
Testing Standards

"In order to ensure a consistently high standard, we have all of our ballistic testing performed by H.P. White Laboratory, Inc.,the most respected name in ballistic testing.

All of our vests are tested in accordance with the Federal Standards for the Ballistic Resistance of Police Body Armor (NIJ STD 0101.03).0ur vests are tested not only for resistance to penetration, but for blunt trauma as well. Blunt trauma is the impact of the bullet on your body even when there is no penetration, and it can be dangerous. However, when we certify a vest against a threat level it INCLUDES blunt trauma protection as per Federal Standards.' (Quotation from Point Blank Body Armor Inc.)

(Bold type denotes NIJ Certification Bullets)

While hundreds of Law Enforcement Officers have been shot on their Second Chance Body Armor without serious lasting ill-effects, no one can make any absolute guarantees of the effects of the impact of any one bullet on any one spot of any individual person.

It is impossible to list the astronomical number of combinations of calibers, brands, bullet types and weights and barrel lengths of guns available. For example: Any Second Chance Level IIA vest or thicker will also stop all .44 Specials, .45 Long Colt, .455 Webley. Second Chance Level IIA even stops the 8mm Japanese Nambu submachine gun. (Only four known to exist in the US.) Obviously there is no armor of any kind which cannot be penetrated. On the positive side, there is no projectile which cannot be stopped!

***It is recommended to use a level II (the level the New York Police Department and Los Angels Police Department use) or a highter level for the best protection.***
