July, 2005, at a DVD-release event for
director Curtis Harrington, who directed Shelley Winters in Whoever Slew Auntie Roo. I spoke with Miss Winters
about Petronella VanDaan, a real-life woman whom we have both portrayed in The Diary of Anne Frank. I have
played the role on stage, whereas Miss Winters (who passed away in 2006) won her first Academy Award for the 1959 film.

In June of 2000, at the premiere of The Hiding
Place, a film starring Kim Hunter and Timothy Bottoms and directed by Douglas Green. Doug had previously directed
me on stage in The Butler Did It.
Ms. Hunter, who won the 1952 Academy Award for A
Streetcar Named Desire and later played Dr. Zira in the Planet of the Apes films, passed away in 2002.
