This
autumn weekend retreat of restoration and spiritual inquiry is held
in a beautiful rural setting near the Mendocino Coast. The intention
is to listen to the subtle wisdom of Spirit, awaken our creative
spark, and discover ways to embody this inner knowledge in everyday
life. Using the traditions of shamanic journeys we will seek out
the healing influences of animal and spirit guides, and cultivate
the power of inner vision. These journeys involve non-ordinary states
of consciousness that are naturally induced with rhythmic and melodious
sounds. The journey experiences are folded into mindfulness practice,
prayer and sacred ritual. In this integrative manner we aim to restore
the natural and empowering balance of body, mind and spirit. |
|
| The
process of shamanic journeying is a simple one, based upon the experience
of thousands of years of indigenous people who trust in the wisdom
of nature. We offer here a chance to step away from the confines
of one’s ordinary life and ego-identified consciousness. The
journey is a exploration into one’s self and the realms that
are available beyond ordinary, waking awareness. It is based upon
the belief that there are forces in nature that are available to
instruct and heal and we may converse with these forces by cultivating
a clear intention and an ability to listen carefully. The journey
itself may be described as an active, creative imagining or a profound
contact with a beneficent force far beyond the confines of the ego. |

|
 |
This year, we will explore the power
of intention and prayer. We will also be cultivating mindfullness
and care in all of our relations.
Many of our sessions will take place outdoors, utilizing the
expansiveness and beauty that surrounds us |
|
Past
participants as these retreats have marveled at the ease at which
they can get in touch with inner guides and a deep sense of healing
through this integrated approach. The retreat invariably instills
a deep sense of restoration and inspiration. Although the process
is often deep and healing, it is not intended as psychotherapy.
We hold the retreat in a light-hearted way, marveling at the creativity
and humor that Spirit presents. The small group format allows
for a very comfortable, personal atmosphere while respecting each
individual's need for introversion.
This
retreat is open to people seeking a deep opening into their inner
world.
For the psychotherapists who are attending, it will be a rich,
experiential exploration of trance induction and visioning.
There
will be a brief didactic lunchtime session for those obtaining
CEUs or interested in psychotherapeutic applications.
Please
note:
This year’s retreat requires some previous experience with
journeying. If you have not attended a previous workshop, or retreat
with us, we will need to discuss your level of journeying experience
before registration is accepted. An
introductory session with basic instruction will be available,
if needed, prior to the retreat weekend.

The
Setting:
Oz Farm is nestled
in a quiet valley on the Mendocino coast, 120 miles north of San
Francisco. Oz is a working farm with certified organic orchards
growing specialty pears, plums and antique apples. Set on over 300
acres of land, surrounded by a redwood forest with a clear river
running through it. Oz was originally sacred Pomo Indian grounds.
The lush valley is now a center for renewal and exploration where
one is immersed in nature and shares the company of wildlife including
soaring osprey and eagles. There are plenty of walking trails, in
forest and river settings, and meandering strolls through the orchard
and gardens. |
 |
|
 |
Our
group will gather in a spacious converted barn with a huge, wood
burning stove and also enjoy a lovely farmhouse dining room, garden
deck and hot tub. The central house is a cozy place to gather
where delicious, hearty, organic meals will be served.
Accomodations are shared
(2-4 people) in unique, rustic cabins scattered in the surrounding
hills. |
|
When:
Friday, October 13(arriving between noon and 1pm) and ending after
lunch, mid-afternoon, Sunday, October 15. Our first session will
begin on Friday afternoon. There will plenty of free time interspersed
throughout the weekend for relaxing, doing private creative work
and exploring the area. There will be massage therapist available
for optional private sessions. |
