DIRECTIONS
It's best to assemble as a group at a common point not too near the event site and travel together to it. The event location may be closed off to vehicle traffic. Have someone drop you off nearby the event, or travel via taxi or the Metro subway system. The Metro is supposed to be open, but may be closed down for any number of reasons or excuses. Have a backup plan to get where you are going and back.
STAPLES CENTER is northeast of the intersection of the 10 and 110 Freeways in downtown Los Angeles. See map 594, square D5 of the Thomas Brothers' guide for details. It's at Figueroa and Pico. Staples Center is where the DNC is being held. The official city approved protest platform is at 11th and Figueroa (northeast corner of Staples Center).
PERSHING SQUARE is about a mile northeast of Staples center. It is between 5th and 6th streets, Olive and Hill in downtown LA. See map 594, square F4 of the Thomas Brothers' guide for details. Pershing Square is a small park. It has a purple tower and a low yellow wall with a statue of Beethoven (don't ask...). Pershing Square is where the demonstrators will assemble to march to the DNC.
