400 Word Limit

Watch out for the 400 word limit.  Have you ever noticed that when you submit words that you simply get no response. No message saying the word was accepted and no message saying it was already taken and no message saying it wasn’t a word.  If so, you may have reached your 400 word limit.  Typically, you’ll run across this is round 4 and only if you have been frantically submitting a bunch of words throughout the whole game.

What is the 400 word limit?  Simply put, and for who knows what reason, the seat you sit in is only allowed 400 submissions that do not result in points. After the 400th sumission NOT resulting in points, the seat is “maxed out” and frozen for the rest of the game.  Once you hit the 400 word limit, there is nothing you can type in for the rest of the game.  If you’re ahead in the game, perhaps the best strategy is to just be quiet and hope your opponents don’t get a surge of energy knowing that your race car has run out of gas.

If you never have reached the 400 word limit, then you can stop reading this section.  However, if you have maxed out before, then the best course of action is prevention. Think about how you managed to actually type in 400 words that were either already taken or invalid words.  You may want to slow down on random typing of words in your earlier boards and be more disciplined in entering words that are valid words.

If you want to confirm this 400 word phenomenon, then try a simple experiment. Create a private, unrated, strict scoring table. Frantically enter 400 things that aren’t words. You’ll notice that your score cannot go below -2000.
