This was about the most unusual warehouse I ever delivered to. After a brief check-in at a guard shack, I drove down into an open rock quarry, then walked into the tunnel shown, to find the receiving office. The customer took some personal information, including my cell phone number, and told me he would call when there was a dock ready for me. There are 144 acres of open space in this mine, and the mining operation is still active, They harvest ornamental rock, such as marble. Many Missouri state and county buildings were made using Carthage marble.

Several cold storage businesses have taken advantage of this cool environment, by building their warehouses inside the vacant areas of the mine. The miners were careful to leave several rock columns in place, so that the natural ceiling did not collapse. Backing my trailer around one of these columns, to the dock, was a little bit tricky.
