Thanks for all you did for our sport
The following is an email I recieved from Dean's
daughter Joanne.
To all concerned:
I want to take this time to say thank
you very much for the wonderful
Memorial put together in memory of my dad,
Dean G. Lowry. The turn out was
tremendous and the caring was evident in the
comments and tears that were
expressed during the get- together.
I will have this memory with me for the rest
of my life and will share it
with my Dad's grandchildren and great grandchildren
as often as they will
allow me to. Seven (7) children, twelve
(12) grandchildren, and several
great-grandchildren survive Dad.
I will do my best to retell and show,
through pictures and stories, my
children the contributions that Dad made to
the Volkswagen racing community.
He gave so much and expected so little, which
was one of his charms. I want
to acknowledge the sacrifices that all wives
and families make for the men in
their lives that are involved in the racing
community.
Thanks so much to Dick Bean for his support
and for the contributions of
money he collected from so many generous people
to pay for various expenses
that Dad's illness accumulated.
Thank you to Mike Fischer for his shop
space in which to have the memorial and his
organization of that
get-together. Thank you to Rick Mortensen
for the Power Point slide show
that he put together. Thank you to Doc
Macintosh for his friendship to my
Dad and his family for the last 20 some years.
It was very nice to see Lee
Leighton, and Mark Schley there. (Mark
did an excellent job retelling some
of the history that Dad created.) I
remember seeing them many times when I
was a child out at the race track.
Thank you to all the people who wrote in on
the Internet to wish Dad well.
Chris Andrews, thank you for passing the email
on to me so that I could share
them with Dad and Peg. Finally, for
all those I have missed mentioning,
thank you.
Sincerely,
Joanne L. Lowry-Rodriguez, my children, Thomas
& Elisha
