I must say that I haven't had much luck with handlaunch. Nothing to do with the plane, though. I guess I just don't have the patience for flatland soaring. Still, the Climmax is usefull as an ultra light wind sloper. It'll fly in the very lightest wind. It also holds the distintction of being the most fun rudder-elevator plane that I've ever owned. The full flying vertical tail makes rudder rolls suprisingly fast, and turns and loops can be made very tight. The aileron version that C.R. sells would probably be even more fun.
Note: I eventually removed all the Monokote from the wings and tail of this plane (I shouldn't have covered them in the first place). I also installed a lighter 110mAh battery and a Hitec 555 reciever. The result was a great decrease in weight, down to a bit over 12oz. Since I've done this, I've been able to successfully hand launch and thermal this plane.
