... a brief summary of Bobbi & Jack's 2 ½ weeks in Central America. We had hoped to wait until after all had received our post card accounts of the adventure. But, alas, nearly two weeks have passed since we dropped our cards off at the central post office in San Jose and apparently not a one of them have yet to make their way back to the States. Roberto, what do you have to say for the local postal system? And some of the cards that Bobbi dropped off at the same location a week earlier haven't even showed up yet. Yikes!

Will plan on providing a better account later, including more photos. Permit me to say here that we encountered more excitement than anticipated as we missed our Sunday flight back! Because flights out were so overbooked, not to mention weight-restricted [due to (1) the temperature in San Jose; (2) the altitude of San Jose; and (3) the short runway in San Jose], we ended up having to travel north to Nicaragua in order to find Continental flights back to Houston with a couple of free seats. During our brief stay in Managua, we were accompanied by a wonderful couple originally from Nicaragua who now reside in the U.S. They were a very amiable pair.
Nonetheless, we had a very special time visiting family and friends in Costa Rica (e.g., Patri's sister Giselle in Olga's home and Danilo & Diego whom some of you know from their stays in Wisconsin, as well as friends of a colleague of mine at West), national parks (dry savannas and rain forests beside the Pacific, and cloud forests high in the Talamanca Mountains), and superb ocean beaches (in Montezuma, Dominical, and in several of the parks). Magic! A wonderful place to return to for the next stress-free escape (okay, largely stress-free!),
