Obituary for Syl Beyer


                                       

Syl Beyer of Eagle River died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff. He was 89.

Mr. Beyer was born Jan. 1, 1913 in Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1994.

He worked for Bucyrus-Erie in Milwaukee for 34 years. He was an avid skiier and golfer. Formerly of Milwaukee, Eagle River has been his home for the past 24 years.

Mr. Beyer was an active member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, where he taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) and was a lector for many years.

He served in the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard

                   

during World War II and Korea.

Mr. Beyer was a member of the Knights of Columbus; the VFW, having served as post commander in Milwaukee; and was past president of the local chapter of American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

Survivors include a son, Thomas J. of Park City, Utah; a daughter Beth (Chuck) Cape of Canton, GA.; two sisters, Therese and Josephine Van Beck, both of Milwaukee; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held March 16 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Koszarek officiating. Burial was in St. Peter Cemetary.
