| Jan, Atkins, an artist of many
facets, resides In Mount Airy, NC. A varied background has helped Jan
develop her unique style. She gained experience In commercial art by
creating logos, posters, ads, cards, T-shirt designs, renderings,
billboards and more. Extensive work In theater Including acting, designing
sets, program cover designs, and special effect techniques, has resulted
In many awards and special recognition for her. While working as a Visual merchandise designer for BeIk and other
department stores, Jan was responsible for the displaying of merchandise
and window designs, for which she has won a number of first place awards
In State-wide competitions. She also coordinated fashion shows. and was
responsible for stage dressing. The Reynolda House Museum of American Art, In Winston-Salem, NC commissioned Jan to paint a mural emphasizing "outdoor living". ...one of four permanent exhibits for "Reynolda, a Country House, 1905-1926." Broyhill Furniture chose her to paint 10 to 15 foot high murals In their prestigious showroom In the International furniture Center In High Point, NC. Jan has also designed and hand painted art work on Furniture for Mount Airy furniture Company, and Sidney Arthur, Inc. In High Point. her work has been featured In catalogues. Jan has received dozens of first place ribbons, some purchase awards, "People's Choice" awards and a Best in Show . |
Jan has been proud to share her talents, Including demonstrating Oriental Chlnolserie, a special technique of ornate art, for over 100 Interior designers In Atlanta.
