The Sports Adventure Tourism Information Center Is Being Developed For You

exportfacs@aol.com

SATIC is designed as a service for members of the Sports Adventure Tourism world.  We will collect articles from every group on the internet who has an interest in Sports Adventure Tourism.  We will post here on this website articles and resources on each of these sports and adventures. Articles will be published in the SATIC for everyone to download and use in developing their business.

We invite Practicioners of these and other sports adventures to place copies of their publication in this  Center.   You'll get a link to your page in exchange for articles and other resources you are willing to share with others.  You share with others in the Sports Adventure Tourism field when you allow them to download freely.  Another plus is that through networking this way,  you may find ways of working together, create coalitions and consortium and brainstorm ideas that can build your business.

Where is the know-how you need to create a SATC? What if you aspire to lead your country in SAT based sustainable development? Where will you get the know-how you need? Perhaps you care looking for low tech soccer stands plans,.

The information has probably been researched, and documents, and even written.  But it is scattered in thousands, even hundreds of thousands of different web sites.  It may also be in different countries in information centers.  Some of them may be in a tourism office in the Philippines, on the World Wide Web, in the Library of Congress or in a private corporation's annual report.

The information is all there. But how to get it all? How to select what is relevant and discard the useless? How put together disparate bits of information to get coherent whole? And, very importantly, how to transform all these disparate bits of information into a usable document that you can profit from? Most importantly, how can this information then be used to create a profitable SAT business?

Come to the SATIC for the know-how you need. Everything from articles, list servs, forum, conferences,  bibliographies, Special Reports, Guidebooks, Books, Interactive Distance Learning Courses, Newsletters, netzines, Business Marketing calendars, etc.  Come here to post your own resource.

All these Information resources will be placed here in the center,  ready to be downloaded by you. We can even send them to you by email or by regular mail. Many topics have already been researched and have already been written. Topics we haven't yet prepared, let us know and we will prepare it for you.

By sharing your knowhow you become an integral part of the true community, the SAT Entrepreneurial Culture.

The Power Of Information

Information is power. The information environment is in a state of flux. The technology is becoming so vast, so sophisticated that the planet itself must look like a vast, swirling mass of new information products. An information aware society can use new systems and sources of information for its profit and development.

Let us focus on the information delivery stream and examine some of the basic factors of what makes up an information resource for the developing Global Sports Economy. What might our idealized INFORMATION CONDUIT system be? Let us look at each point in the conduit in terms of what information is needed, what technology can be made available to supply it and also how it could serve the needs of the public and private sectors in Latin America. The benefits of making new ideas and information readily available can be great in the support of a development effort.

Arboleña's SAT businesses are concerned with technology transfer into the country's infrastructure development. Arboleña has no oil reserves and needs to develop foreign exchange resources. There is some money available to set up an information delivery system to meet development needs. In order to create a SAT Entrepreneurial Culture an information system will be needed.  The basic questions Arboleña's businessmen and government ministers might ask themselves are:

1. what has been done for similar problems that I am focusing on

2. what worked in similar situations

3. what did not work in similar situations

4. why did the workable solutions serve

5. why did the unworkable solutions not serve

6. what are the similarities between my situations and the other situations

7. what are the dissimilarities between my situations and the others. By understanding why the other solutions worked or did not work, they can learn from the mistakes of others. As the saying goes, only a fool learns from his own mistakes; the wise man learns from the mistakes of others.

So the first questions about any proposed SAT project, SATBI or community consortium might be, "Does this project have any seeds of possible success? What are the factors in our project and their project that fit, and what are the factors in our particular environment that might validate or invalidate their results. A search for this information will require an INFORMATION CONDUIT. It will ask these questions and present answers of varying degrees of complexity, depending on the needs of the particular situation.

Let us say to date little information is available to Arboleña users. Why might this be true? Most government agencies, commercial firms and individuals have not had access to the kinds of staff persons that could set up a usable information delivery stream. The multinational corporations are themselves just beginning
