Description

Small species (typically 18mm-23mm). Dorsal coloration uniform green, smooth. Iris goldish-silver with black reticulation. Extensive webbing between fingers III-IV. Ventral surface partially covered in white parietal peritoneum. Organs lacking white lining.

Distribution

Costa Rica, Panamá, Colombia and Ecuador.

Habitat & Ecology

This centrolenid is nocturnal and riparian (found in the vegetation above and near streams).

Reproduction

This tiny species reproduces along streams. The males often call from above the vegetation near moving water. The call of this species is a rough high pitched trill. The green eggs are often deposited along the edge of the leaf, and hang in a slight jelly mass.

Conservation

Status: Not Listed, but habitat destruction threatens amphibians worldwide.
