Description

Small species (Typically 28mm-33mm) Dorsal coloration is a bluish-green, very smooth, and rarely with a few larger white spots. Iris white with a heavy black reticulation. Extensive webbing between fingers III-IV. Ventral surface partially covered in a white parietal peritoneum. Visible organs lacking a white lining.

Distribution

Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panamá, and Colombia.

Habitat & Ecology

This larger centrolenid is nocturnal and riparian (found in the vegetation above and near streams).

Reproduction

This species reproduces by depositing its dark colored egg masses attached to vegetation overhanging moving water. Males typically call from vegetation near streams, not always above the stream's water. The call from this species is a single high pitched "tick".

Conservation

Status: Not Listed, but habitat destruction threatens amphibians worldwide.
