These are just a few of the many dreams and visitations I have had from Ishaq over the past two years.
Other friends have called me to tell me of dreams and visits they also have had from him. Truly, we only walk through
a doorway when we shed our bodies. Our spirit, and our love, lives on!

The Bear Dream
I am standing on a mountain path. There are huge green pine trees around us, and I think a rise to the left. Ishaq
is walking away from me on this path, with a huge brown bear next to him. The bear has a huge salmon in its mouth. Ishaq
turns and looks at me over his right shoulder and smiles, then keeps walking on with the bear.
Bear and salmon live in the west, the direction of the ancestors. This was such a beautiful medicine dream and I dreamt
it the night before Sufi camp.
...At Sufi camp, Haleem was having the folks in his class build a powwow drum. We had been painting the panels of the
drum, and I painted this dream on one of the panels. There was some discussion as to which panel would have the "spirit
door" cut into it, and as folks were talking and discussing, a tree branch fell with a very loud "thunk!" and
landed centered right on the panel with Ishaq and the bear on it. All talk stopped abruptly; Haleem looked over and said
"well, that seems pretty clear!" and that panel was the one that was made with the spirit doorway.

Allah Calligraphy Glowing Light Dream
September 19, 2006
I wake up and I'm in my bedroom, in bed I think, and Ishaq is there. The wall is clear, it's the wall where the goose
picture is and Ishaq's ancestor altar, on the west wall of my room. I can't tell for sure in my dream if I'm in my regular
room, but it is definitely what is understood to be my bedroom in the dream. I can't remember him speaking much, or what
he said if he spoke. I think he was dressed in his t-shirt and jeans. He raises his hand and writes "Allah" in
Arabic on the wall, and it's written in this golden-green light. I can't tell if he has something he is writing with, or
just using his hand and fingers to make the light. Then he moves over to the right of the Allah calligraphy and begins to
write and I either know or understand, or he tells me in some way, that he is writing the Fateha on my bedroom wall, in this
same golden green light.
Later I created my first mixed media art piece, inspired by this visitation (picture below). The poem, tree, and feather
card pieces are from sympathy cards I received from various friends and family.

The Ring Dream, November 2, 2006
I was waiting with Ishaq at a dinner table for his daughter to come have dinner with us. Ishaq had brought champagne
and there were two glasses full on the altar, regular champagne flutes. I asked him what they were for, and I was smiling,
because I knew he was going to ask me to marry him. He told me we had to wait and somebody, I forget who he said, was coming
to play music. Then I had my arms around him, I think we kissed but I can't remember, but I do remember putting my arms around
him as he was sitting in his chair. The chairs were dark ladder back chairs, and there was a window with white curtains,
I think, behind Ishaq. The floor was nice wood. And the table was set simply with white dishes, I think, and the table was
dark wood too. I was so happy and loved him so much. In the dream he never actually said the words but somehow it was understood.
Then he was giving me four rings; the first two were the wedding set; it was a silver band with ruby colored stones for the
engagement part, then a plain ring that was a matte silver color band for the wedding ring, it had some texture, maybe stones.
He also gave me two more rings, to wear on my pinky; one was like the little snake ring I already have and one I think was
a sort of twisted silver band. He told me I could have the rings sized later to fit.
I remember the glasses on the altar weren't sitting even and one tipped over, but when I sat it upright it appeared nothing
had spilled.
I woke up clearly remembering the dream, and wrote it down. The following February, I found the wedding ring at a music
festival - a plain silver band inlaid with nine stones made of what is called "Eagle's Eye" - like a grey-blue tigers
eye stone. I looked up the meanings of the stone and found it is used to communicate with those who are in other dimensions,
and also has been called the stone with the key to the kingdom of heaven. There were nine inlaid pieces and nine is the numerological
number that corresponds to our anniversary date.
The Wind, July 19, 2008
I was out at a friend's summer gathering in the country. It was two years ago at this gathering that Ishaq and I picked
fresh cherries, and swam in the Siuslaw River, and sang songs together in the evening "talent show" that always
happens.
For a while I sat by myself at the river, and I talked to Ishaq...I asked him "are you here with me right now?"
and to give me a sign if he was. It was very hot and calm, but as soon as I said those words aloud, a wind came up, a strong
one, and it blew the canoe that was tethered next to the dock I was sitting on so that it swung around and bumped it! Ishaq
just loved canoeing out there. I said, "yep, you are here!" and the wind went away and the day went back to being
calm and hot and peaceful.
