Mohawk
acid-free, recycled papers.
In
2003 Mohawk became one of the first large-scale production facilities in the United States to use renewable, non-polluting,
wind-generated
energy for manufacturing. The amount originally purchased was the output of one windmill (4 million kilowatt hours)--enough to produce
600
tractor-trailer
loads of paper per year.
Today
usage of this energy has increased more than 10-fold, to 45 million kwh, 38% of Mohawk's total electric energy consumption.
Mohawk
papers are 100% recycled and are manufactured with process
chlorine-free
100% post-consumer recycled fiber.
Mohawk
papers are certified by Green Seal, a non-profit organization devoted
to environmental standard setting, product certification, and environmental education.
Mohawk
papers are certified by The Forest Stewardship Council, an international
non-profit organization that has established an inspection, tracking, and labeling procedure that ensures wood products come
from
well-managed
forests.
