Unaltered nature contains a purified complexity of design, which inspires my Serigraphs. My images begin with photographs
of memorable patterns and textures from nature and evolve into hand-printed compositions in which color plays a primary role.
Techniques involved in design and multicolor screen-printing develop layered textures presenting stunning effects that demand
closer inspection.
These are NOT computer-generated prints. My Serigraphs are hand pulled in small editions of fewer than 100 signed
and numbered prints. I personally hand pull each edition, in no less than 9 colors--one screen for each color. Each image
is hand registered to within 1/200 of an inch. Images are imprinted onto bright white, acid free, wind-power manufactured
papers using hand mixed inks and biodegradable solvents.
Although Serigraphy and related stencil-based printing is an ancient art, it has in the recent 45 years devolved
into a commercial art that is used primarily in printing t-shirts, freeway signs, and shampoo bottles. My objective in Serigraphy
is to illustrate the versatility of Serigraphy as a fine art.
