Kentucky Hills

A typical view in Kentucky, even more so in Missouri. The rollers were endless, and as luck would have it, they were usually just long and steep enough to require shifting down to make it to the top just about every time. Very demoralizing after awhile. And the heat and humidity didn't help any. Notice the ridges on the nearly nonexistent shoulder. This is to warn drivers when they start to veer off the road. The narrow roads and lack of shoulder, however, weren't a problem on the trip. I found that people in the countryside tend to slow down, and be much more relaxed about their driving and the obstacles they encounter. The biggest problem tended to be that people were reluctant to pass; I'd usually have to pull over to let them by!
