| Comments: | Hi Inferno, Just found your website after I tried to install Ripper on my New PC for the 3rd time in 6 months! I originally purchased the game for my old NEC 486 PC, which it worked ok except very slow & jumpy! I then upgraded my PC a couple of years ago to a home-built 800Mhz PC built by a work colleague which was nothing but trouble! Ripper would not work on this PC. I now have a E-machines 610 2.6Ghz PC which is great, but again, Ripper does'nt like it! I was hoping you could send me Ripper1.03 patch so I can see if I can get the bugger working. Did'nt get past the 1st Disk on my old pc but I love this kind of game. Shame they dont make them like this any more. I also used to love Tex Murphy although never got to play Pandora's. Phantasmagoria was good too. Don't suppose you know any others like this I may be able to get my hands on? Regards, Al |

| Comments: | Hey Inferno, This is a great website you have here. I just wanted to let you know that I was able to get Zork Grand Inquisitor (DVD version) to run on my Windows XP Professional computer by using the extra help file for Zork Nemesis that Mordack sent you. I was having the exact same problem where it wouldn't recognize the disc. I copied the files over and edited the Inquisc.zix and Inquis.zix (I wasn't sure which one to change, so I did both) in the same manner as in Mordack's walkthrough. After that everything works smoothly. I also had to put on compatibility mode for Windows 95 because it would crash on startup as it was. Hopefully you can add some mention of this somewhere on your website so it can help others who want to play this great game. Thanks again for your work on the list. Kevin Becker |

| Comments: | Hi, I chuckled a bit at your web site. I have found that I go back and replay many of the older games. You are absolutely correct in that many of those games are worth the effort to get running under XP. I have been wrestling with "Are you afraid of the Dark?". Can you send me whatever steps you have worked out so far? Using "compatability mode" and playing with the virtual memory has allowed me to start the game, but I have no sound, and intermittent lockups (usually during a "movie" sequence). I am trying to figure out the workaround for the Soundblaster requirement, and the VBE test. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Scott |

| Comments: | I've been trying to get Feeble Files to run in XP but with no luck, even with the compatibility modes. I noticed that it's not in your F-J or "Sorry Charlie but Forget it List!" or in the works in progress but it is listed in your personal collection | ||

| Comments: | Hi there, nice site - it contains informations to RIPPER,
that i haven't found anywhere else ... the official websites of take2 or
gametek seem to be offline, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me the patches
v1.03 and v1.05. The net is full of the greatest !§&%! i've ever seen, but if you need a patch for a game, which wasn't cheap in 1995, there is no location to go to. With a little bit luck the patches should fix the sound problem i have in RIPPER - it seems to be played twice in a minimum timeshift, so you can't understand what they say. Thank you for your efforts ... Andrew |

my sons were interested in playing Zork Nemesis. Unfortunately I have a
XP syste. I understand there are patches that will help run Zork on XP.
I tried downloading them but it appears that they are not available. I
would appreciate it if you could email the patches. Thanks, Richard |

| Comments: | Trying to get magic carpet to run. Works, but way too fast. Can't even see what I'm doing, the carpet's just flying past everything. I can't turn off my video acceleration. There's no setting to turn it off as far as I can find (its a Geforce 5200 fx). How else can I slow it down? Someone suggested loading Microsoft Reference Drivers. Is that a good idea? | ||

| Comments: | Excellent site. I'm playing all of my old games again, thanks to you. I had one query, and it's obviously not of earth-shattering importance, but the link to the icons for Ripper doesn't work. If you could send that to me, that'd be phenomenal, but no rush. You get better first, that's the important thing. | ||

| Comments: | Ack! Sorry about the double signing. And let Victor from Morrisville, NC know that Star Trek Borg is VERY playable under XP, all you need is the patch for it, available at gamespot.com. So far, however, all of my attempts to play its sister game Star Trek Klingon have failed miserably. General protection fault, my ashtabula. Anyway, hope he reads this. | ||
