Grandma Dorothy

In Loving Memory

November 6, 1918 - March 15, 2002

She left us with plenty of laughs and smiles. We miss her very much.

This was taken many years ago at Papa Joe and Dorothy's 50th Anniversary Party. They were so in love.

The following was taken the summer of 2001. Dorothy riding the scooter with the help of my cousin Bear was one of my favorite memories. Even at age 82, she was willing to try anything.

Mimi and Dorothy (both my grandmas) in January 2002

I am so glad I got both of them together as this was the last time I would see Dorothy.

Here's a poem that was read by Uncle Bud's wife Mary Kathryn at Dorothy's memorial service. It fits Dorothy to a tee. She was always looking her best and remained a beautiful lady even into her later years. I don't know the title of the poem nor the author, but if I did I would give credit where it's deserved.

Let me grow lovely growing old,

So many fine things do.

Laces, ivory, and gold and silk need not be new.

And there is healing in old trees,

Old streets of glamour hold.

Why may not I as well as these

grow lovely growing old?
