3.4 Cassegrain Secondary

A Cassegrain secondary holder has been started for the planned Cassegrain focus, Figure 3.41. The Cassegrain holder is similar in construction to the Newtonian secondary. The Secondary can be easily changed from Newtonian focus to Cassegrain focus by removing the end of the four mount brackets at the top of the tube assembly, (Figure 3.3.1a of the Newtonian Secondary section), and lifting the secondary assembly off of the end of the tube.

It may be possible to make a prime focus inside of the secondary holder. The secondary tube is 6" in diameter. CCD cameras make it practical for placing an imaging device in the secondary holder.
