Language of Light:
The Virginia Formation

According to the May 26 'CVille Weekly' newspaper article on page 14, the shoulder-high grass "was laid flat in spirals which emanated from the center of the Circle". The visitors, Andrew Smith and Nicole Truxell (the latter wrote the newspaper report), gave this [excerpted] report (double quotes enclose their own words):

They'd spotted a few "broken stalks" (I think she might mean 'blades'), though "almost all of the grass seemed to bend from the ground without breakage -- except for one piece of grass smack in the middle of the center circle, which stood straight up and was broken ('torn'?) about a foot from the ground.

"The angles and the circle seemed precise, although we didn't measure it. The outer edges of the circle had regular serrations, like the edges of a saw blade, each about three feet apart." They estimated the overall dimension to be about 50'. Both visitors agreed that "this didn't look like a trick. Besides, why would someone make one of these things if they didn't know it could be found?"

Why indeed, Nicole?  :-) Judging from the map and in situ aerial indicating the Pattern arrived on a hill with a goodly slope to it, and also from their remark that the grass was 'shoulder high', it sounds like the Formation was only visible from the air.

We are indebted to our US Network's Connecticut Coordinator Doug Rogers and Colorado Coordinator Ron Russell for forwarding the article to us. Thankyou both!
