Woods

Shakti Shoji creations are available in a variety of woods and finishes.  Traditionally, shoji are made with soft woods such as Western and Spanish Cedar.   Shakti Shoji offers other wood options such as Cherry, Walnut, Poplar, Alder, Mahogany, Pine and Fir.  If there is a species of wood you prefer, we will consider that as well.  Our preference is to use woods that are environmentally sound and beautiful as well.

Spanish Cedar

Shakti Shoji can be rough or finely finished to a smooth sensual touch.  We generally use an oil finish on the harder woods to bring out the richness in the grain as well as to give the shoji more protection.  Finishes on softer woods vary depending on a variety of factors and your preferences.
