Pungent Frustration - a four piece rock group( vocals, guitar, bass, drums ) from New Orleans. Don't let the name confuse you. The music is not frustrating in any way. After a couple years of what seemed to be a lack of music categories( if that's possible ) the members concluded that the category of the their music was simply Melodic Aggression. It's due to the fact that the music covers several styles from melodic to metal. And that is how they classify themselves. The group works very hard on staying musical while still maintaining an aggressiveness in the music. Since they like to use distorted guitars, heavy drums and aggressive vocals, the songs always maintain a hard rock/metal attitude but with a twist.

      There are a couple of ballads with clean guitars, one without drums, and some pieces that follow a pattern of soft to hard or visa versa. The overall sound offers grinding guitars, some fast tempos, and very intense vocals. The musicians try to concentrate as much as they can on using dynamics to help achieve different moods of emotion. The entire band contributes to the writing process. They are definitely not a band of individual writers but more resembling to individual writers working as a group.

Vocalist Chuk offers a nice melodic rasp that can go from scream to growl to harmonic and writes most of the lyrics with some resembling prophetic poetry.

Guitarist Lan crosses many styles from rock to jazz. Implementing jazz type solo styles into heavily distorted guitars has seemed to work well in creating melodic sections while maintaining aggressive sound.

Bassist Don is also a great songwriter. His style, being a little more metalish and fast tempo seem to only intensify the combination that makes each song it's own entity.

Drummer Animal is probably the member that every hard core band dreams for. A fast, agile drummer with power and intensity. His unique way of combining rhythms helps to give a unique sound to each song.

The group has been together as Pungent Frustration for about 5 years with the exception of bassist Don Toscano who joined in October '98.
