Embodied Human Consciousness, Abrupt Global Climate Change, and Freedom - S. David Stoney, Ph.D.
II. ABRUPT GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE - Confronting Climate Change. Well, arm waving and shouting probably won't get us very far. It's going to take some doing to overcome our conditioned thinking. Right now the state of public knowledge about the climate cycle is not very good, so educating ourselves and our leaders is the first order of business. The following links provide information that can help in that task.
"... serious disturbances in the understanding of reality are inevitable if and when awareness of the contextual wholeness is lost." (Kenneth Keulman,The Balance of Consciousness: Eric Voegelin's Political Theory, University Park, PA: The Pennsylvania State University Press, 1990, pgs.135, 136.)
Coming to grips with global climate change. An introduction to some of the issues. (A work in progress)
Global Warming Test. So you think you know the facts? Try taking the Environment News Service's Global Warming Test. (I am working on them to include a question or two on the climate cycle and the potential for global cooling. There seems to be a widespread belief that Americans are simply too stupid to understand that the Earth can both warm and cool, i.e. that there is, at this stage of Earth's climate history, a natural climate cycle.)

about global warming. A link to an Environmental News Service article. For more links on global warming
and cooling see the section on Abrupt Global Climate Change. Global warming and some
things we can do. This link is to a thorough
PowerPoint presentation by Jim MacKenzie of the World Resources Institute, "Thinking
long term: Confronting global climate change." MacKenzie focuses on CO2 emissions and
discusses approaches to dealing with global warming. Letters to my local newspaper and to Congressmen from Georgia and
South Carolina Sample letters dealing with the global climate
cycle, the importance of looking at global warming in the context of the climate cycle, and
the looming menace of global warming's evil twin, global cooling. Please copy and use these
letters to begin the process of educating your neighbors.
