Sharing Information - Key to Progress in Science, Engineering, and Education

Last updated on

This site is devoted to Events - conferences, presentations, workshops, public hearings etc. - of potential interest to members of the IAS, and others, who are welcome to look for pertinent information. Below the area Keys, we briefly discuss our rationale for providing this service.

Events are presented in the order in which they are scheduled. For a series of sponsored Events, we place the item according to the earliest scheduled "sub-event." For convenience, events that take place near the "border" between two regions are generally shown in both.

Rationale
Because the Academy encompasses all technical disciplines (scientific, medical, engineering, etc.), the site is designed to be a central Clearinghouse for announcements that are relevant to all Idahoans, but are too time-sensitive for publication in the IAS newsletter, The Retort.

Network Facilitation
As a multi-disciplinary organization, the Academy is dedicated to fostering network formation among science and technology practitioners, teachers, students, and other interested persons. Not only does this promote the free exchange of information, it opens up the potential for productive collaborations. The Academy believes strongly in the power of collaborations, especially those that cross disciplines -- and, as the saying goes, "that's what we do."

However, the effort to foster networking among technical people must not downplay or ignore our obligation to those who support that work -- the general public and their representatives in government. We hope that this listing will also inform the general public, media, and State representatives about science- and technology-related matters of interest to the community.
