Orma J. Smith Museum of Natural History
|
|
On-going.
|
The Orma J. Smith Museum, located at The College of Idaho in Caldwell, is the only natural history museum in southwestern
Idaho, southeastern Oregon and northern Nevada. Its specimens are used for classes at the college, but the displays are open
to the public (most school days or by special appointment). Also, the collections are used by national and international experts
for a variety of research projects. Loans of specimens to and from other institutions are continually being made.
The Museum is open to the public when The College of Idaho classes are in session, entry through main entrances to Boone Hall
at first level. To arrange for group tours contact JoAnn Bellon (208-459-5211 or via e-mail).

Two featured events are on-going at the IMNH Museum Galleries (ISU), Pocatello.
"The Art of Paleontology" features the outstanding artwork of world-renowned Paleoartist Mark Hallett. Check out his website
at www.hallettpaleoart.com! Stunning bronze casts of saber-tooth cats attacking a Bison latifrons fill the center of the gallery.
The exhibit also features elements from IMNH's Tolo Lake Exhibit to teach visitors about one of the most significant paleontological
sites in Idaho.
"A Century of Fish Hatcheries," on loan from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) where it was created by Mick Hoover
and Sharon Clark, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the legislative act that created the first state fish hatchery. Also
featured in the Fish and Game exhibit is historical aquaculture equipment which was designed and built out of necessity at
the fish hatcheries.
