Ashtanga Yoga has evolved over 1000s of years
to help individuals foster moral, physical, mental,
emotional, and spiritual development. Yogis believe
a clear mind is the key to personal enlightenment. In
working towards clarity, we use asanas (physical
postures) to help focus the mind and reconnect it to
the body.
The physical practice is dynamic, precise and
rigorous, using specific postures, breathing
techniques and meditation to develop the mind
and body.
Both Primary and Secondary Series classes
connect the breath with postures, creating a
flowing rythm that heats the body and clears the mind.
The PRIMARY SERIES focuses on forward bending,
lengthening hamstrings and opening the hips.
These postures are associated with releasing
ourselves from the past. They also relieve lower back
pain and create flexibility.
The SECONDARY SERIES focuses on backbending and
spinal twisting. These are cleansing postures and help
us open ourselves to the future.
