The Gayle McCormick Appreciation Website
December 23, 2004 -- I added a UK "Minus-Plus" 45 picture sleeve photo today.
August 3, 2004 -- I've made some screen captures from the Klassmen "Wondrous Time" home movie and from Smith's appearance on Music Scene in 1969, doing "Baby It's You." You can see them right here.
April 19, 2004 -- I updated the Discography and Solo Recordings pages with confirmed info on the "Mr. Loveman" / "Wondrous Time" single.
March 30, 2004 -- Added yet another Smith picture sleeve to the listings.
March 11, 2004 -- Just added a Smith picture sleeve to the listings today.
July 22, 2003 -- Many thanks to Les Peterson for sending along a terrific list of TV appearance by Gayle and Smith. We've also uncovered a 16MM film with sound of Gayle and the Klassmen from the mid-60s doing a song called "Wondrous Time." Apparently it's an early attempt at doing a music video. I'll post some stills once I've converted it to video.
This website is devoted to the music of Gayle McCormick, including her solo work and
her recordings with the Chevels, the Klassmen, and A Group Called Smith.
Gayle was born in St. Louis in 1949 and her recording and performing career stretched from 1965 to 1976. She reportedly still lives in the St. Louis area today.
Get in touch, Gayle -- let us know what you've been up to!
As a teenager, I was fortunate enough to have seen one of Gayle's solo shows in the early 70s
when she opened for Dunhill Records label-mates Three Dog Night. Her performance was
absolutely riveting. And now years later, after seeing literally hundreds of other female
performers in concert, I still believe that Gayle was the best.
